Let’s talk pizza. As much as I like to cozy up into a booth or sit outside with Betty so she can enjoy going out, I also love making pies at home. Either way, she always scores the pizza bones. Scooch in with Betty and me as we talk pizza.

A community garden

When I first moved to Providence years ago, I noticed a community garden that took up at least two city blocks just two miles down the street. There’s quite a bounty behind that little wooden fence—rows and rows of raised garden beds. 

Island time

Every year during the week of my birthday, we head to a little island that’s 13 miles away, or a 35-minute fast ferry ride, from the mainland. Block Island is not only a treat, but a retreat…like going back in time. The layers of stress peel off with every swell underneath the ferry’s bow.

Round plates

This is the new home of The Foodie and the Dog, and with this first post, I’ll start with my round plates entry. Every so often, I’ll use this title to showcase some recent foods that bring a smile to my face and a fullness in my heart…um…belly.
